With 15 patios and open terraces spread throughout 22,000 square feet, the Gallery Inn is especially suited to follow social distancing rules and provide a safe haven for guests.

An 18th Century Treasure

Our Pool Amidst Ancient Ruins

Brick patios, antique arches, ausubo beams, and a multitude of sculptured fountains are among this San Juan boutique hotel’s many charming architectural details. Nineteen glorious gardens and five active art studios are tucked away between twenty-seven beautifully appointed guest rooms, all with Tempur-Pedic mattresses. Rooms are artistically scattered through seven juxtaposed levels resembling more of a historic museum than a hotel. Guests are encouraged to explore the 17th century mansion to find their own nook of tranquility. Certainly not-to-be-missed, meandering through the Sunken Garden is the two-waterfall water feature constructed around original ancient walls and door ways that wind through its center.

Experience Sublime Live Concerts

Venetian-style Music Room

The Inn’s proximity to Old San Juan’s historic monuments, museums and famous eateries, combined with its North-Wall, fresh sea-breeze location, make this one of Puerto Rico’s best!

The Venetian-style Music Room is home to regularly scheduled world-class Chamber Music Concerts. The lofty wine deck offers a breath-taking panorama; the highest views of Old San Juan. Alamanda Gardens with its many fruit trees and night-blooming fragrant flowers, offers the perfect place for quiet reflection and relaxation.

“We walked around and explored the Inn and made it up to the top of the building that overlooked the city and the ocean view was breathtaking. Every time I thought I had found the perfect place to sit and relax I saw something else I wanted to explore.”

Welcome to our boutique hotel in San Juan,

As artist and creator of the Gallery Inn, I, Jan D’Esopo, welcome you, my valued guests to a different experience. We are a place of history, art, and music, not just a regular hotel. In fact, we have been designated a National Historic Landmark by the US Department of the Interior. The six 18th Century Villas that comprise the Gallery Inn, include the ancient living quarters of the artillery captain for El Morro Fortress. As such, there are no TVs in our rooms, instead many books and more than 150 original paintings grace our walls throughout the hotel. Many of these paintings are hung exactly where they were painted.

Our Inn is about the arts and especially music, supporting the many young musicians that come to both practice and perform on our six Steinway pianos.  This hotel is also the home of The Steinway Society of Puerto Rico.  I am happy to share that your dollars are supporting this music organization.

I wish also that our guests know that we are considered one of the most truly authentic restorations in Old San Juan in keeping with true preservation of history in this 18th century architecture.  We have sacrificed elevators, large closets, high ceilings and other usual luxuries as expected in modern hotels. In exchange, we offer many beautiful gardens, sitting rooms, the highest rooftop lookout deck overseeing the Atlantic Ocean, original sculptures and fountains all within our historic museum hotel, which I personally invite you to enjoy.

Your dollars support this unique place and all the art, concerts, and history contained within its walls!
