“You can handle a life changing experience, I did here.”
Reviewed January 12, 2013
This is my first opinion I have written online, but when I saw the Trip Advisor advertisement email, I felt I had to share what I got out of my trip to Puerto Rico because it truly changed my current life. My husband and I are seven years into our marriage and we both felt like we were losing something. So my idea was to take a vacation, and force a little one on one time to hopefully spark our flame. We flew out of Atlanta into San Juan, PR, and stayed at one of the big chain hotels near the airport the first night, since it was so late. The next morning we took a cab into Old San Juan, obviously, being the source of the Islands seduction. The whole city is on one big hill, and with all of our bags we made it half way up, to the center of town and checked into the first clean hotel we found. Bad idea! The entire Island doesn’t sleep, much like a Mediterranean lifestyle, so we were dancing with them all night. The next day we started up to the forts and as you crown the monstrous hill, the brilliant blue ocean takes over your view. That’s when we almost ran into two artists painting with easels and everything, right there on the street. The two, were the most mesmerizing people I have ever met. They pulled us inside the Gallery Inn and with very little force, they had us staying for dinner. Teresa Spinner, the first artist turned out to be the owners of the Inns sister and her well proclaimed artist friend Bart Lindstrom (who I immediately googled when we got back to our room.) We spent the rest our week at the Gallery Inn, taking day trips with the artist painting and visiting the rainforests. With all of the unexplainable and unimaginable amounts of art personally created by the beautiful goddess like female that owns the Inn, lets just say my husband and I didn’t even remember why we took the vacation, but only that we didn’t want it to end. We spent every night staying in, sharing a bottle of wine in each and every public room in the Inn. This was not just a couple of couches and a fire place, no they have a room devoted to a grand piano that anyone is happy to play, hidden jungle and pillow filled patios and the most breath taking roof top (VERY PRIVATE) deck lounge. With the roaring ocean, reflecting the moon on your left and a veiw of the entire city lights, framed with the view of the entire mountainess Island behind it on your right… that with a bottle of wine, and your in heaven. The Gallery Inn’s people, love, creativity, personal support, inspiration and beauty reminded us why we said yes seven years ago. Anyone that is passionate about constantly changing and creating themselves would find a great amount of fulfillment in a stay there…
“Very unique place in a great location”

My husband & I stayed 2 nights at the Gallery Inn. This place was absolutely beautiful. It was so much fun exploring the place. The rooftop terrace has a great view of the city. There were different rooms you go into & the artwork throughout this place was amazing. Make sure to check out their Beach House. It’s a short walk (or they have a golf cart that will take you there). We went down there both nights for some happy hour drinks. We did not need a rental car our 1st two nights here as this place is located in a perfect place. We were able to walk to both forts & countless bars/restaurants.
“THE place to stay in San Juan!”

The Gallery Inn is exactly that; a mix between an old artist gallery and an inn. But what an incredible location with the wild Atlantic ocean in front and the cobblestones of Viejo San Juan on the back. It’s like entering a Fellini movie scene with all the kooky characters, the talking parrots, the amazing pool with the brick wall. Then there is the Gallery Shack by the ocean which is amazing for the sunset cocktail gatherings. They also have live music sometimes but I didn’t get to catch that unfortunately. The food is also solid. Can’t miss with The Gallery Inn. It’s definitely the authentic Old San Juan experience!

We were in San Juan for a conference and were told by our concierge that we looked like we would appreciate something different. Oh indeed it was lovely! Six of us arrived by taxi to this unmarked jewel. We could not make it for the earlier sunset but decided to still come for the dinner. Jan, the owner, was simply delightful, and so gracious as she patiently took us around the grounds of this fascinating, art world, beautiful gardens and scenic wonderland. Her art is superb, the food was incredible (bravo to the chef!), and the gardens make this a delightful, peaceful experience. I would highly recommend this if you are looking for a relaxing evening.
“Amazing unique experience; a bit like entering another world.”

Jan is a suberb host. As Jan led us on a tour it is obvious that she is a visionary and when you enter into this world you are leaving the ordinary and entering the extroadinary. The Inn exudes romance and magic with a dash of mystery. The food, rooms, staff are like the incredible wall of orchids: possessing beauty and strength of spirit and purpose. This is an experience so worthwhile if you give yourself the gift to be open to the unexpected.

Dear Gallery Inn Family:
I hope this email finds you well and in good spirits. I had the pleasure to stay with you from June 16th through June 18th. You hosted my rehearsal dinner and allowed me to get ready for my wedding day.
From the moment I set foot in your hotel back in April, I knew that I wanted to stay there for my wedding. I loved the art, decorations, atmosphere and the feeling of being around family, that your amazing staff reflects. I was allowed to tour the rooms and choose the one that I wanted. I chose “Print” room facing the pool and garden area, but when I checked in on June 16th, I was surprised to be upgraded to the “San Sebastian” room. What a dream for me. I felt like I was in heaven! The room was gorgeous and perfect!!
Later that evening, Julio and I were able to host a Rehearsal dinner at the garden. Your staff was amazing with our guests and made them feel right at home. We all loved the food and drinks. It was just PERFECT!!
The day of my wedding the staff went above and beyond to make me feel like a princess. You were able to provide me with anything that I needed. From making me lunch to even finding an extension cord. I really appreciate it all. Thanks to you, I was 100% stress free.
The videographer and photographer loved working there as well. There entire hotel was an amazing backdrop filled with art and beauty. A few days after the wedding you allowed me to return to the hotel with my photographer to take a few more pictures. That is how amazing you all are!!
Overall, my experience and visit at your hotel was FANTASTIC. I felt happy, relaxed, pampered and like royalty. I find it difficult to express my immense gratitude to all of you for being a part and helping to create my wedding day a perfect one. You will always be in my heart!
I wish you a lifetime of amazing success and happiness!
We hope to return for our anniversary.
With all my gratitude,
Edna Pabon – Santana

We stayed here the first night of our honeymoon. It was incredible – far more beautiful than pictures could show! The hospitality, breakfast (muffins!), everything was more than we could ask for. We will be back for our anniversary! : )

As soon as I stepped into The Gallery Inn, I felt like I fell into the world of Harry Potter, or I had wondered into the 17th century. I adored the four-poster beds, and the secret doorways are amazing. If I ever find myself back in Puerto Rico, I will definitely stay here again.
We cannot thank you enough for all you did to offer us, our family, and our friends one of the richest, most festive weekends we could imagine! So many welcoming people, so many magical spaces (from the rooftop-with-an-endless-view to the basement-with-an-ancient-canon), so many resonant sounds (from musicians like Ramón Negrón to birds that greet themselves in Spanish)… We came with high expectations, and they were surpassed.
Because our actual wedding was a bit large to fit comfortably at the Gallery Inn, we chose to have the ceremony & reception at The Hacienda Siesta Alegre, another incredibly enchanted place, and the combination of Old San Juan and the Rio Grande countryside worked perfectly. We will be back.

We are still glowing from our wonderful stay at Gallery Inn. I loved playing the piano every morning and I will certainly come back to play a real concert with Ramon!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time there, meeting other guests, the wine and cheese on Sunday, wandering through the hotel and the comfort and quietness of our room. Old San Juan is a great place to visit and the Gallery a great base for doing so. We regard your hotel and its ambience as a one of a kind in the world! We have already recommended you to a number of people and plan to continue doing so.

What a surprise to find this place tucked away in the old city. We spent the last night of our vacation here and it may very well become the most memorable. Certainly the great staff and the glass of late night wine with Jan and Manuco will long be cherished.

My new wife and I loved this place! Nothing like this in this Hemisphere!
