Tour de Forks

Tapas and Ambigú Tour through The Gallery Inn’s six antique homes with 7 levels.

The Gallery Inn is composed of six intertwined town houses. Nine beautifully planted interior gardens and terraces, coupled with seven parlors and porticos offering groups and visitors to Old San Juan a most interesting place for gatherings, dinners and tours. Our location, high above the old north walls, completes your evening with breathtaking ocean and bay views.

Our guests will arrive through a colonial wood entrance gate, into the north Front Gardens. Once inside, Cockatoo Campeche and Jan sporting eighteenth century dress with bonnet will greet the visitors and invite them to enjoy a welcome sangria or rum punch. Drink in hand they will enter the oldest of the six original buildings called La Cueva Del Indio, which dates to the mid 1700. Proceeding through the Captains Nook Portico and into the Janmari Garden, the first plates of delicacies will be offered by the staff.

At Jan’s Kitchen continue straight to The Sala Margarita passing under a large chandelier to the 2 balconies overlooking the blue cobbled San Sebastian Street. Anita’s bar and reception area will offer more and varied refreshments and appetizers on their way to the two levels of The Alamanda Gardens. Fruit trees and hoya vines display countless herbs, vegetables and flowers. After relaxing with wine, punch and open bar, guests will continue the varied menu of appetizers of your choice. Fragrant jasmine is abundant and perhaps the night blooming cerius may offer its heady fragrance of delicate white flowers under the west wall of orchids, more than 100 of them.

Continue down The Wedding Stair to the swimming pool, which winds through ruins of the old brick structure. Next to the pool, The Cannon Room easily hosts dinners and receptions of more than 75 persons within open, yet air conditioned brick floor spaces. Elegant chandeliers twinkle above the abundant candlelit tables and wall sconces. Sculpture is everywhere.

At the selected hour guests will be invited to visit the Music Room with our 9 foot Concert Steinway, where numerous chamber music concerts are held during season. The Old Kitchen, Music Portico and up to the Doll House Studio shall continue the tour. Climb the stairs to the Wine Deck and be prepared for breathtaking views of 360 degrees. We will view north over the old walls out to a vast sea horizon, west over El Morro Fort and western Old San Juan taking in the San Jose Church, La Fortaleza and entrance waterway going south. Here the ships anchor in San Juan Harbor at the piers the great bay which extends accross to Cataño, flanked by hill side towns. The view to the east will bring silhouettes of Central Mountains, El Yunque, The Rain Forest, expansive views down the north coast toward all the beachfront hotels, ending with a spectacular view of San Cristobal Fort and the Garita del Diablo as it perches on dramatic black rocks which tumble into the sea. Sometimes during morning tours, whales may be spotted.
